ABOUT PIITA Design STUDIO
What you wear and how you present yourself tells a story. Traditionally, the regalia that you wore demonstrated who your clan and nation were, and spotlighted unique design skills and ingenuity with patterns and colour. Piita Design Studio offers clothing and home decor with this in mind - showcasing unique pieces with familial lines and contemporary sensibilities. Piita evokes nostalgia while celebrating the present, and taking pride in the future.
Piita Design Studio incorporates natural materials, recycled, upcycled, and heirloom fabrics and vintage goods into all their pieces. Ethically made in Vancouver, BC and Piikani First Nation, AB.
ABout the designer
Piita Design Studio by Amber Bedard
Amber Bedard, Piitaakii (Eagle Woman), is a Siksikaitsitapi artist and designer from Piikani First Nation. Amber grew up between Piikani and Mohkinstsis (Calgary, AB) and draws inspiration for her creative efforts from her family legacy and heritage. She learned her love for design and beauty from the matriarchs on her matrilineal side, namely her mom, aunties, and grandmothers. They taught her that what you wear tells a lot about where you are coming from and where you are going. Piita has been a passion project 12 years in the making, and Amber hopes that whoever you are and wherever you are going, you find connection and kinship with the collection.
